Travel through miles and miles of cornfields with us! Just kidding...but you can learn about some great things to do in these states!

STATE TRIP

The states where there is not much to do besides look at cornfields. I have a lot of family who live in these states though, so we got these states by traveling up here to visit family. There is not much to do but I do know of a few good things...

Iowa

The land that my dad was born in! I have been to Iowa three times now and all three times were for visiting family. The first time that we went, we headed to Lake Okoboji; this is a really family friendly lake that anybody can enjoy. It is a natural lake so the water is very clear and pretty. There is a little amusement park called Arnold’s Park that has fun for all ages as well as a really amazing donut hole place. The lake is kind of cold but that did not stop us from spending hours in the water and doing different activities like boating. The other times that we went to Iowa were to visit my great grandparents in a very small town called Primghar, and another town called Sanborn. I can promise that these places are for you if you like to look at endless miles of cornfields! The most notable thing worth mentioning is a really good restaurant called Pizza Ranch and if you are in town I highly recommend hitting it up. Pizza Ranch is a chain throughout the Midwest, so you may stumble on it other places, too). Overall I recommend coming to Lake Okoboji for your Iowa visit.

Nebraska

Basically, this state is a copy and paste of Iowa. It involves a lot of corn fields and a whole lot of nothing, at least the areas we drove through (sorry if you're from here lol). For Nebraska, we did not stay the night we just traveled through and ate a local place called Dairy Chef in Omaha. It was pretty good, but there was not a place to eat inside and we were there during the winter, so that was not fun. Basically, if you are here during the summer eat at Dairy Chef, but during the winter I don’t really feel like it is worth the trip. If you’re wondering, for our photo of Nebraska we pulled off to the side of the road and took a photo in the corn fields.

Kansas

You know that my dad’s family lives in Iowa, and now you know that my mom’s family lives in Kansas. I have been to Kansas multiple times; we usually go to a small town called Seneca but we have also visited Lawrence and Kansas City. There isn't much in Seneca, but my awesome great aunt lives there, and also a lady that has her own zoo in her backyard with a raccoon that lives in her house, a chinchilla, baby deer, and other animals that I can’t really remember. In reality, if you are trying to visit all 50 states you will most likely go to Lawrence or Kansas City. In Lawrence, we visited the University of Kansas and the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead. We were in Kansas City for a wedding and went to the Chicken N’ Pickle. I would recommend either going to a Kansas City Chiefs game or a Jayhawks basketball game if either are in season.
