Texas and Arkansas

Our home state! It may not be the prettiest state, but I can guarantee that everything is bigger here! Also, read about Arkansas and our adventure to a resort in the middle of a lake!

STATE TRIP

Arkansas

The first time that I went to Arkansas was in March 2019 to DeGray Lake State Park Resort. This resort was on an island in the middle of a lake! It was about 40 minutes from Hot Springs. This hotel was really cool and I recommend coming here for a unique thing to do. My family came here during spring break so the weather was a little bit too cold to go swimming in the lake, but we did a (chilly!) boat tour around the lake and a late night hike (offered by the resort) to see stars and wildlife. We did go swimming in the heated pool though, and enjoyed doing that. We stayed at the hotel for two nights and ate food there in the resort's restaurant. One day, we also ventured into Hot Springs: we explored the town, one of the old hot springs, and went for a hike. We also ate at Grateful Head Pizza - highly recommend! The pizza was yummy and the restaurant was set back into a hill. DeGray Lake Resort is a great place to go and have a weekend away in nature and was something I will remember for a long time. Our picture for this state was us on the boat tour.

Texas

My family and I live in the great state of Texas so we didn't take a trip here, because we have always been here! If you’re driving through, I recommend visiting Dallas so you don’t have to go to deep into Texas. Dallas is a pretty nice city and there are few activities to do such as the 6th Floor Museum, Museum of Illusions, and visiting Klyde Warren Park. After that, go and grab some Tex-mex or Texas BBQ. If you’re wanting the better side of the metroplex (Fort Worth) you can go to the Stockyards, Ft Worth Zoo, or the Water Gardens. Then go grab some dinner at Joe T’s! If you want to stay a few nights in Texas then I would recommend going to San Antonio, or maybe Austin. In San Antonio, you can see the Alamo and do the Riverwalk and have plenty restaurants to choose from. If you're into waterparks, you can visit Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels, a fun place for all ages. If you want to go to Austin then I recommend staying in downtown and exploring that area! DO NOT come to Texas in July/August unless you want to sweat your skin off.
